Open any roto-molded cooler and the first thing you notice is how thick the cooler walls are and how little space this leaves for ice and contents. The Rugged Road 45 is different. Its cavernous design gives you far more useable space. In fact, roto-molded coolers with similar exterior dimensions have an interior capacity of about 38 cans. While you'll fit 45 cans in your Rugged Road 45!

The cooler was as good as expected. I have had RR coolers from their inception before anyone could buy one. I let one get too close to the crawfish burner and melted it. I purchased this cooler to replace the melted one. The only caution I had is that RR changed the sizing from Quarts to Can volume so don’t be thrown off. A 45 from RR holds 45 12oz cans not quarts. It is not near as big.

I went camping for a week with my RR45 and Yeti Tundra side-by-side. They are essentially the same size and cooling efficiency, but the RR45 wins in many other categories. It's much lighter, much easier to open and close, and the flip-top was useful for a couple of meals. Very happy with my purchase.

Overall the item is great BUT I wish now I would have ordered the 65 as the 45 will not close when loaded with typical water bottles or taller drink containers. But the fact that it floats upright, even with the waves in the Gulf is great.
